Cohort 7

MEETING THE LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

OBJECTIVE 1: Explain your choice? What specifically caused these results?

 1 to 10: 5

Learning Objective 1: Do you feel you understand and are familiar with the goals, values, and the core structure of the Empathy Circle?

I am new to empathy circles and being a NVC practitioner , I assumed all empathy circles are kind of the same. Its delightful to know that there are so many approaches to empathy and that we can learn from all of them.

As someone who is facilitating and will probably need know about the theory of empathy that is practiced in such circles , it would be nice to have a session,

I was faced with all these questions when I was facilitating by participants. Before people invest 2 hrs of their precious time, they need to see the benefit in the practice. This is closely tied to motivation theories of learning.

When we clearly tell people in the beginning, why this is important and what they can gain from it , it reduces resistance and also increases motivation, at least to try out this very different form of empathy circle ( speaking as a NVC practitioner).

I also feel a short lecturette should be included in all sessions where this is being introduced for the first time to motivate people to explore further. I have spoken to people, and when just told about the process without the science behind it, one guy told me that the process of reflection is so mechanical, which is so far from the truth, anyone who has practiced this circle knows!

However, this is what people can imagine if they just hear the process without the explanation of why it works. and sending videos beforehand does not work, because most people do not watch them, due to time constraints .

OBJECTIVE 2: Do you feel confident and comfortable with beginning to facilitate?

 1 to 10: 5

Objective 2: Explain your choice? What specifically caused these results?

I felt very confident to facilitate because I am a facilitator by profession =, but after doing my first circle I lost my confidence because it was a little difficult, there were a few difficult personalities who did not watch to stick to the structure and I was scared to tell them to keep to it!

OBJECTIVE 3: Do you feel you are leaving with strong bonds with other participants and mutual support network?

 1 to 10: 6

Objective 3: Explain your choice? What specifically caused these results?

Yes , I had one empathy buddy with whom I had an instant connect ,and we are meeting weekly. But with the other two not so much! I think making strong bonds needs time and effort , and that is always a scare resource.

GOING DEEPER

I LIKE. . . . . What did you like about the training?

I loved the warmth, the caring the empathy, the understanding and meeting people from all over the world with such similar goals and values . I loved the kind coaching and the encouragement.

I WISH . . . . What do you wish for regarding the training?

I wish I could have more theoretical understanding of the theory behind this practice. I wish I had a trainer document which lists all the things needed for trainers in one training manual. There is so much information in so many different places that its hard to read and hard to keep track. The chaos of it makes me anxious and unable to learn.

WHAT If . . . . What next steps would you like to suggest or offer?

I would like to have a single training manual in the form of a booklet , that has everything i need to facilitate a session
