10.05 Ses. 2a

SUBJECT:  COHORT 10: Post Session 2 Assignments: 1). Survey 2). Challenges 3). Facilitate Circle  4). Buddy Call

Here are assignments to do before the next Session 3.

1. Fill Out Session 2 Feedback Survey

Session Evaluation & Feedback  https://j.mp/38UJhbW

Please submit feedback regarding the Empathy Circle Facilitator Training Session that you have just completed, including feedback on Session structure, content, and instructors.

2. Review and Document Empathy Circle Facilitation Challenges.

Here is a list  facilitation challenges you may encounter: https://j.mp/3grmoOM

You can review these before the next Session.  When you facilitate your Empathy Circle you will be able to dial up the level of challenge you want from 0 to 10.  0 being no challenge, to 10 begin total chaos, screaming and yelling. :-)

Write down some facilitator challenges you have had or anticipate. You can write it on Page 4 of this document.  https://j.mp/3grmoOM

Share at the beginning of the check in at the next session.

Here is an example of about  a 9.

Yes, it can get even more challenging.

3. Hold an Empathy Circle with Family or Friends.

Try to facilitate an Empathy Circle with family, friends, etc. before the next Session. You just need to find 3 more participants. Sometimes it is hard to get them to take part. One way is to say you have this assignment for a workshop and it would be a big help to you if they took part.

Report back on how it went in the next Session. Share your approach for getting participants to take part and any challenges.

4. Your Next Empathy Buddy Call.

Your Empathy Buddy Call: Facilitator Community and Mutual Support

For more on support see, http://j.mp/EmpathyBuddy

Part of being an Empathy Circle facilitator is to be part of a community and to have mutual support with other facilitators. You can support each other when you host Empathy Circles, Cafes, and other projects. As a facilitator, it is important to have as much personal support as possible.

We have paired you up with someone else in the training Cohort

(Every week we will pair you with a different participant.)

Between now and the next Session, connect with that person. Have a 30 minute mutual support call on Zoom or Skype, etc.  Feel free to do it longer if you have the time and inclination.

If schedules don't allow for you to connect.. Don't worry about it, just do your best.  You may not be able to connect every week due to scheduling conflict.

Person 1 gets 15 minutes to talk about their experience in the training while Person 2 empathically listens. Talk about:

·What is your experience so far in the training?

·What are your expectations, etc.?

·Or just talk about what is alive for you?

Then switch roles and Person 2 talks for 15 minutes and Person 1 empathically listens.

Report back on how it went in the next Session. .
