12.B Apply

Why are you interested in becoming an Empathy Circle Facilitator?

I spend a lot of time working with college students and I'd like to learn how to better support them. I think that the experience I gain as an Empathy Circle Facilitator will prepare me to work with students by listening to them, hearing them, and supporting them.

I want to make use of the skills in my person life and professional life as a dance student

To be happy and share happiness

Not, as of now

to connect people through Empathy.

I want to learn how to be more empathetic myself and learn how to teach it to others.

I believe expressing empathy is so important to our human experience and that it is very much lacking in our society. I would like to experience more of it, and facilitate more of it.

To spread empathy with the people around me

I want to spread this structured dialog practice everywhere I can, if not at least in my community.

Healing in a different way

I am passionate about mindfulness and conscious living. I am practicing living a more conscious life both personally and professionally. Being an Empathy Circle facilitator will help me be more compassionate towards myself and others.

I'm teaching Human Development classes at Pacific Oaks College, specifically Cognitive Development, Life Cycle Development, and The Elder Years. I want to strengthen the empathy component of these courses, and get ideas for interactive practice activities over ZOOM.

To better myself both short-term and long-term

Where would you like to facilitate Empathy Circles?

I'd like to facilitate Empathy Circles for the members of my club at UCLA.

In dance communities at my school London Contemporary Dance School

Chitwan, Nepal

I'd like to gain more insight into incorporating Empathy Circles in normal life

What do you see as the benefits of Empathy Circles?

I think that Empathy Circles create a safe space where individuals can access a place where they can be heard without judgement. It's also an opportunity to get to know others inside and outside of your community and understand their experiences. Participants will not only be heard, but they will be able to listen and engage in effective communication with the group.

Conflict avoiding, creating a confident space for ideas to emerge

Happiness and satisfaction

I think it helps the person take something off their chest.

Help people to understand each other.

Fostering a culture of empathy will only make us all into better humans who can have deeper conversations with each other

Empathy Circles can foster a greater sense of connection in humanity by cultivating greater understanding, compassion and relatedness. Cultivating a greater sense of connection can help us to become less defended, and draw us out of the the perception that the other is threatening or competition. It can help to reclaim our sense of being for each other rather than against each other in the fight for resources. We can be more willing to work together and cooperate and compromise.

Creating a safe environment where people can feel heard and understood

I see some of the benefits are improving my active listening skills as well improve my reflective responses.

I think this provides the atmosphere for me to move out of the provider/client role (being seen and heard) in addition to listening

Empathy Circles foster the ability to give space for ourselves and others to BE. A space to be authentically seen, heard and to express oneself. A creative space for problem solving, healing.

Spiritual practice to be a better citizen, a better teacher, a better parent, a better friend, a better child, a better sibling. Promotes positive interactions in human to human encounters for acceptance, inclusion, caring.

More calm with people

Is there a list of empathy circles currently happening that are not training oriented? I was looking on your website but couldn't find it. There is a lot of information on your website, and it did not stand out anywhere.

Thanks!
